One of the highlights of the Conference will be Prix CIRCOM Regional Gala Award Night on May 26th, celebrating talent and skills in the television regions of Europe. Through Meet the Winners sessions, you will have a chance to meet the authors of the Prix winning programmes, and discuss challenges they met while making their winning programmes.
The host of this year's annual conference - RTP - Rádio e Televisão de Portugal, Portugal’s Public Service Broadcasting company - will welcome the conference delegates on the Azores archipelago, off the Portuguese coast, in Ponta Delgada, the capital city of the autonomous province of the Azores islands. This conference will be the westernmost ever in the entire history of CIRCOM, with the Azores being the very last patch of land of the European continent on its west side, in the middle of the North Atlantic Ocean.
The Conference venues are Teatro Micaelense, where conference sessions will be held, Teatro Ribeiragrandense, the venue of the Prix Gala Award ceremony and Science and Technology Park Nonagon, where mojo workshop will be held prior to the conference.
RTP has been producing regional television and radio programmes since 1975 in the Azores and just finished the construction of a brand new building on the main island.
RTP's CEO Gonçalo Reis announced that both his company and the local government of the Azores will do their best to welcome CIRCOM members for its 35th Annual Conference:
RTP and CIRCOM Regional have found the perfect fit to ensure good collaboration in preparation of the 35th annual conference of the association. Jose Lopes de Araújo, the director of Public, International Affairs and archive of RTP is also a native of the Azores, as well as a former director of the local RTP Station. Mr Araujo was also appointed as a new Vice President of CIRCOM Regional in May 2016.
