CGU Prize Handover330Last May CIRCOM Regional had the honor to win the Compostela prize, awarded by the Compostela Group of Universities (CGU). 

The award ceremony took place on 20th September 2016 in Castelló, Spain, during  22nd General Assembly of the CGU, attended by representatives of 30 universities.

The prize was received by CIRCOM Regional’s President Tone Kunst and Secretary General Fernando R. Ojea, both of which also spoke at the General Assembly.

Fernando gave an introduction to debate on University Internationalisation and Society, while Tone took part in a debate about ethics in academia, as well as in society at large. Tone gave the audience a sense of European Public Broadcasters standards and concerns, many of which they found sharing with academics.

This year, the Prize recognises the labour of CIRCOM Regional, the Professional Association of Regional Public Service Television in Europe. The Jury highlighted CIRCOM’s promotion of the values of tolerance, diversity and integration, as well as its role in the construction of the European identity. 

The Assembly will include the celebration of its General Council Meeting, an academic journey focused on the role of civil society in university innovation, as well as the awarding ceremony of the International Prize Grupo Compostela-Xunta de Galicia.

More than 60 representatives from 30 HEIs will join in Castelló, in the frame of the 25 anniversary of the host University. There, they will have the opportunity to attend an experts’ debate on internationalization and its relation with civil society and industry.

On Tuesday 20th, professor Per Kristensson, from Karlstad University, will be in charge of the opening session with a presentation on the relations among university, public sector, industry and civil society. In this journey, the results of the pilot edition of the International Research Pitches will be presented.

In addition, the third edition of the Compostela Dialogues in Higher Education will be focused in the ethical perspective from these different sectors. The academic journey will be closured with the second edition of the Compostela Café, a series of thematic simultaneous round tables about the higher education internationalization.
