From the Middle of the Atlantic to the Heart of Europe

This was the 10th Video Journalism workshop organised by Circom and they came from far and wide. 12 people from 10 countries made it to Budapest – with our first representative from the Azores Islands in the  middle of the Atlantic.

Vasco Miguel de Sousa Pernes, from TVP Portugal, took 4 planes and over 18 hours to reach Budapest. He said it would have been easier to get to Boston, USA but he made it and said that it was an experience he will never forget and worth all the effort.

This year the course was extended to two weeks and the VJs produced some excellent stories ranging from Dental Tourism, Regeneration of Factories, the Budapest Homeless through to a different take on the Economic Crisis and the plight of Single mothers.

All the reports are available for free broadcast on the Circom website as international versions.

Twelve happy VJs returned to their work this week with news skills and determination to put into practice what they had learnt with Circom in Budapest.
