2020 – The Challenges for Regional Television - The Risks and Opportunities

If ever there was a time when Senior Managers and Executives from Regional TV stations needed to discuss the challenges and opportunities they face over the coming years, then this is it.

Circom Regional has arranged a pioneering event where the innovators and decision makers within European regional television can come together to focus on the role of regional television over the coming years. The seminar will bring together the decision makers in regional TV to discuss the major risks and challenges facing our services.  Through exchange of views and experience it is hoped greater cooperation and support will help us with the issues to be faced in the coming years.

The event will take place at the Hotel Timisoara, Timisoara on Wednesday 4th May, 2011 at 2pm.

Bob Collins who is the chairman of the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland, the state regulatory body for all public funded and commercial radio and TV in the Irish republic, will lead the summit. He is the former director general of RTE, the Irish national public service broadcaster. For many years he was a leading member of the EBU.
Bob was critically involved in the establishment of the Irish language station TG4.
From both his past and present activities he is uniquely poised to examine the present broadcasting landscape. He has the wisdom of significant experience at both the European, national and local level, and is acutely aware of the conflicting demands and pressures of both commercial and public broadcasting.

The event is being organised by Johan Lindén, the former SVT program director, commissioning editor of news and current affairs, he is now acting as a Senior Advisor to SVT’s Director General.  Early registration is recommended.

Delegates are invited to attend the CIRCOM conference the following 2 days when topics discussed duringt the seminar will be expanded upon during conference sessions. Attendance is free to Circom members.
