Workshop Objective

The workshop explores how verification and fact-checking are evolving in a rapidly changing media landscape shaped by AI. Combining discussion, case studies and practical exercises, participants will discover key challenges and opportunities for European newsrooms, while also testing a range of verification and fact-checking tools to strengthen their editorial workflows and digital investigation skills.
Participants must bring their own laptop computer in order to take part in the practical workshops.

Language

The training will be conducted in English, and it is important that participants have a good working knowledge of the language.
Who’s this training designed for?

Journalists and media professionals interested in building or strengthening their capacity in the verification and fact-checking process in the newsroom.
Who will be leading the workshop?

Mr. Andrea Gerli (Rai) will moderate the event together with Mr. Henrik Sköld (SVT) and Mr. Ville Juutilainen (YLE).
Where and when will the workshop be held?

The venue is Rai Sport Center, Via delle Fornaci di Tor di quinto, Rome
The event will start at 19:00 on Tuesday 23 June with a Welcome dinner.
The workshop will start at 09:00 on Wednesday 24 June 2026 and end at 13:30 on Thursday 25 June 2026 (with a lunch from 13:30 to 14:30)

The hotel address will be sent to the participants.
How do I apply?

There are only 20 places available, so early registration is recommended. The deadline for registration is 5th June 2026
Places will be assigned on a first come, first served basis but every effort will be made to ensure that there will be as many members represented as possible at the workshop.
Who pays what?

Welcome dinner on 23 June is offered by CIRCOM Regional.
Accommodation for all participants as well as lunches and coffee-breaks are offered by RAI.
Transfers from the hotel to the workshop venue and viceversa offered by RAI.
Travel to be paid by delegate’s home station.
Any other expenses, including food is to be paid for by the delegates.
