IJSchsinau_may2012_2The first investigative journalism seminar run in partnership with SEEMO (South East European Media Organisation), Circom and the Council of Europe has taken place in Chisinau, Moldova.  The event was officially opened by the Prime Minister of Moldova H.E. Vlad Filat. The event was supported by The Austrian Development Cooperation.

During the 2 day period over 50 journalists attended the event. They were mainly from Moldova but fellow journalists came from Sweden, Holland, UK,  Bulgaria, and Romania.  Experts working in different areas of the media made presentations about their work and investigations and case studies were illustrated and discussed in depth. The experts included Paul Cristian Radu, Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project, Romania, Bucharest, Tony O’Shaugnessy, Former BBC Wales Current Affairs Editor, Cardiff, Marek Wollner, Czech RTV, Prague, and Blaz Zgaga, freelancer writer and journalist, Ljubljana, Slovenia.

The seminar was an open event and the opportunity for discussion and advice on how to move forward in investigative journalism was frank, constructive and supportive.

The second Investigative Journalism Workshop took place in Ostrava, Czech Republic from September 19th – 21st 2012.
