Who will lead the workshop?
The workshop will be led by Jules Hyam, a highly experienced journalist and media trainer with over 25 years’ experience at the BBC and as an independent film maker.
What can participants expect?
This is an opportunity to combine your journalism and your creativity to find and tell stories about the people of Timisoara as the city celebrates its cultural life. No filming or editing experience is needed – just your enthusiasm, hard work and a willingness to develop your mobile story telling skills. You’ll work on a series of challenges, developing your filming skills to deliver reports about the cultural festival and people's stories around it. You’ll get an insight into mobile journalism equipment, the technical and practical challenges of filming on a mobile phone and the creative possibilities it can offer. The course is an intensive, practical, “hands-on” introduction to mobile journalism.
Who’s this training designed for?
The training is designed for anyone who is keen to develop their ability to find and tell stories using their mobile phone. The most important thing to bring to this course (apart from your mobile phone) is an enthusiasm to ‘give things a go’ and try something new - as no filming or editing experience is necessary. Because the workshops are of an intense nature, and require a great deal of commitment from trainers and participants alike, priority will be given to those people who can show how they and their home broadcaster will benefit from the training.
Material requirements?
To take part, you must have your own mobile smart phone that is capable of recording video and running current editing apps – iPhone is preferred, preferably iPhone 8 or later, Samsung S7 or later, with at least 5GB of free storage.
